The theme chosen by the Korea Tourism Organization for recommended places to visit in April is 'Welcoming Spring Along the River'.

 

The recommended places include Gangwon Province's Gangchon Rail Park in Chuncheon, Chungbuk Province's Sunamgol Ecological Trail in Danyang, Gyeongbuk Province's Imgo Riverside Park in Yeongcheon, Jeonbuk Province's Sasandae National Tourist Site in Imsil, and Yeongsan River Sports Parkin Naju, totaling five locations.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

1. Chuncheon Gangchon Rail Park

The old Gyeongchun Line used to be the path where the Mugunghwa-ho (Mugunghwa Train) rattled along.

 

Now, railbikes ride along that railway track.

 

Gangchon Rail Park has two routes utilizing part of the old Gyeongchun Line and three departure stations.

 

The routes are divided into Kim Yoo-jung Railbike, Gapyeong Railbike, and Gyeonggang Railbike based on departure stations.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2. Sunamgol Ecological Trail

The Sunamgol Ecological Trail is part of a longer walking route called the Danyang Slow Walking Trail.

 

It's a 14.8 km path that follows the Sunam Valley. During springtime, you can see lots of pretty flowers like azaleas and rhododendrons, and there are also cherry blossom trees along the way.

 

If you walk about 1 km from a place called Jung Sunam, you can see a famous mountain called Doraksan and the Danyang office of Woraksan National Park.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. Yeongcheon Imgo Riverside Park

Imgo Riverside Park is a well-known cherry blossom spot with rows of cherry blossom trees lining both sides of the path from the entrance to the end of the park.

 

When the wind blows, it creates a spectacular scene as pink petals fall like rain.

 

Many people come to the park to enjoy camping or picnicking, and picnicking under the cherry blossoms is even more delightful than the rumors suggest.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

4. Imsil Sasandae National Tourist Site

Sasandae (四仙臺) means "the place where four immortals reside."

 

It is said that around 2,000 years ago, two immortals from Mount Woonsoo in Imsil and two immortals from Mount Maisan in Jinan stayed leisurely in the clean and beautiful landscape of the area, captivated by its beauty.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

5. Naju Yeongsan River Sports Park

Naju Yeongsan River Sports Park is a place where people can relax.

 

In spring, the park is full of yellow flowers called rapeseed flowers.

 

From Yeongsan Bridge, you can see a big yellow carpet.

 

Dongseom (East Island) is a small and peaceful island in the Yeongsan River, which adds more romance to the place.
