In early summer this year, at Seoul's Yeouido, it will be possible to ride a device shaped like a full moon and ascend up to 150m above ground level, overlooking the Han River area.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced the design and operation plan for the helium device 'Seoul's Moon' on the 28th.

Scheduled to operate from the end of June, Seoul's Moon will run from noon to 10 p.m. on weekdays and weekends. Regular inspections will be conducted every Monday.

Depending on the weather conditions, it will fly to heights of 100-150m for approximately 15 minutes per flight.

The maximum capacity is 30 passengers.

The cost is set at 25,000 won for adults aged 19 to 64.

People with disabilities or national merit recipients can receive a 30% discount.

Due to weather conditions such as strong winds or heavy rain, flight status will be announced through the website and social networking services (SNS).

Seoul's Moon is a tethered gas balloon that can only fly vertically.

A Seoul city official explained, "Although it looks like a hot air balloon, it is designed to be connected to the ground with cables, allowing only vertical flight," adding, "Helium gas is inert, non-flammable, and non-explosive, making it safer than hot air balloons."

According to the city, tethered gas balloons are also operated in Budapest, Hungary; Disneyland Paris, France; and Walt Disney World in Orlando, USA.

The rounded pocket of Seoul's Moon, adorned with a yellow hue like a full moon, will feature the Seoul city urban brand 'Seoul My Soul' logo.

Pictograms such as hearts, exclamation marks, and smiles will also be drawn.

The model of the device selected is the 'Aero30NG' from the French company Aero30NG, which has received quality and safety certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

Safety facilities, including a 45t tensile cable and emergency stop motor, are installed.

The city has been working on the production of Seoul's Moon since last month and plans to complete installation at Yeouido Park by the end of June.

Safety will be verified through test flights lasting more than a week.

Kim Young-hwan, director of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Tourism and Sports Bureau, said, 'It will become a new landmark where you can enjoy the Han River area next to Yeouido Park like a panorama.
