On the morning of the 29th, the Korea Meteorological Administration issued a heavy rain warning for the Seoul metropolitan area, including Gyeonggi and Incheon, as well as some parts of Gangwon and Chungcheong regions.

At the same time, a strong wind warning was issued for the West Sea, Incheon, and several cities in Gyeonggi Province, such as Ansan, Siheung, Gimpo, Pyeongtaek, and Hwaseong.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration's disaster information system, as of 10 a.m., Incheon experienced extremely heavy rain at a rate of 34.6mm per hour, while Dongducheon City in Gyeonggi Province, located in the north of Seoul, received heavy rain at a rate of 27.6mm per hour.

The rain clouds that covered Incheon, Seoul, and Gyeonggi Province at 9 a.m. expanded to the Chungcheong, Jeonbuk, and Gangwon provinces by 10 a.m.

The Korea Meteorological Administration expects the rain clouds to continue spreading eastward from the West Sea and anticipate that heavy rain will gradually occur nationwide.

At noon, the Korea Meteorological Administration plans to issue a heavy rain warning for Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi Province, the West Sea, Gangwon Province (Cheorwon, Hwacheon, Hongcheon, Chuncheon), and Chungcheongnam Province (Taean, Dangjin, Seosan).

As of now, the rainfall in the affected areas ranges from 0 to 5mm from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., and the expected precipitation from 10 a.m. to 6 a.m. on the 30th is forecasted to be between 50 and 120mm.

A representative from the Korea Meteorological Administration stated, "Between today and tomorrow, heavy and significant rainfall is expected nationwide, and depending on the region, strong winds, thunder, and lightning may occur.

Therefore, it is important to thoroughly manage facilities and prioritize safety measures such as refraining from walking along riverbanks."

Seoul Experiences Its First Tropical Night... Due to Hot and Humid Air

Due to the hot and humid air covering the Korean Peninsula, Seoul experienced its first tropical night last night (28th).

A tropical night refers to a phenomenon where the minimum temperature does not fall below 25 degrees Celsius from 6 p.m. until 9 a.m. the next day.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, tropical nights occurred in Seoul, as well as along the Gangneung and Sokcho cities in the Gangwon East Coast, Chungju City in Chungbuk, and inland areas, and Jeju.

Tropical nights are more likely to occur when the atmosphere is filled with a high amount of moisture.

Due to the influence of the North Pacific High Pressure System, hot and humid southwest winds flowed in, retaining the moisture in the air, which kept the land's heat even during the night and resulted in tropical nights throughout the country.

Previously, the first tropical night of the year occurred on the night of the 16th in Yangyang, Gangwon Province.

Clouds and Rainfall Decrease in the Central Region, Likely to Stop During the Weekend

The Korea Meteorological Administration expects the central region to gradually clear up on Saturday, July 1st, with rain expected in the southern region and Jeju Island.

On Sunday, July 2nd, except for Jeju Island, the entire country is forecasted to have a cloudy day with a decrease in rainfall.

The next week, there is a possibility of rain returning as the monsoon front moves northward again.
