A Korean dancer has been chosen as the world's top dancer for the fifth time.

Kang Mi-sun, who has been a member of the Universal Ballet Company for 21 years, has received this prestigious recognition.

 

The Benois de la Danse organizing committee announced that Kang Mi-sun, the principal dancer of the Universal Ballet Company, was selected as the recipient of the top female dancer award, solidifying her position as one of the world's leading dancers.

 

 

Kang Mi-sun, the principal dancer of the Universal Ballet Company, has achieved the highest honor in the ballet world by winning the prestigious "Benois de la Danse" award.

 

Having surpassed formidable contenders, Kang Mi-sun's exceptional talent and dedication earned her this esteemed honor.

The ceremony took place at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, and Kang Mi-sun shared the award with Chu Yunting from the National Ballet of China.

Since Kang Soo-jin in 1999, Kang Mi-sun follows in the footsteps of Kim Joo-won, Kim Ki-min, and Park Se-eun as the fifth Korean to be recognized with this award.

During the two-day stage performances following the award ceremony, ballet dancer Lee Dong-tak will present "Mirinaegil" and "Chunhyang," two works that incorporate Korean elements.

Kang Mi-sun, who joined the Universal Ballet Company in 2002, holds the record for the longest-serving tenure among Korean ballerinas.

 

Not only has she mastered the entire repertoire of the ballet company, but she has also received praise for her solid technique and mature acting skills even after returning to the stage following childbirth.
