LEGOLAND Korea Resort, located in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, is set to host Asia's first and only 'LEGO Festival' starting this May.
This global campaign, organized in collaboration with LEGO Group and Merlin Entertainments, will take place simultaneously in seven out of ten LEGOLAND locations worldwide.
Chuncheon LEGOLAND will be the sole host in Asia, aiming to celebrate 'World Play Day' and emphasize the importance of play for children and families around the world.
'World Play Day' is a special day dedicated to recognizing play as a fundamental right of all children.
The United Nations General Assembly officially designated June 11 as 'World Play Day' last year to highlight its significance.
Recognizing play as a fundamental right for children, LEGO Group and the LEGO Foundation worked with experts, international organizations, NGOs, and global enterprises to advocate for its importance.
In March last year, a resolution was adopted at the UN General Assembly, officially establishing 'World Play Day' on June 11.
To mark the second anniversary of 'World Play Day,' seven of the ten LEGOLAND parks worldwide will participate in this year's festival. Chuncheon LEGOLAND stands as the only Asian location hosting the event.
During the festival, LEGOLAND Korea will introduce special activities, including hands-on lessons with Master Model Builders, exciting live performances, large-scale LEGO-themed installations, exclusive festival merchandise, and unique food experiences.
The park will feature five newly themed LEGO IP zones, including the LEGO Dance Zone, Creativity Zone, and Gaming Zone. Additionally, 49 new LEGO character costumes, 2 million extra LEGO bricks, and 42 newly built LEGO models will be added to the park.
LEGOLAND Korea CEO Lee Soon-kyu expressed enthusiasm about the festival, stating, "Introducing this festival in Asia for the first time allows us to create an engaging environment that fosters a healthy family play culture through immersive experiences."
The event is expected to provide a memorable experience for visiting families.
Merlin Entertainments CEO Fiona Eastwood emphasized the festival’s significance, stating, "LEGOLAND Resorts have always been about creating new and exciting first-time experiences for children. This festival, in collaboration with LEGO Group, aims to offer an unforgettable event where families can enjoy limitless creativity and imagination."
LEGOLAND Korea CEO Lee Soon-kyu added, "As the first and only LEGOLAND in Asia to host this festival, we are proud to present various immersive LEGO IP experiences. Through this festival, we hope to bring happiness and joy to children and families while fostering a positive play culture in Korea."
