Hyundai Motor's premium brand, Genesis, is on the verge of surpassing 1 million units in cumulative global sales, just 7 years and 10 months after its establishment.

 

According to Hyundai Motor on the 13th, Genesis has sold a total of 983,716 units from November 2015 to July this year. 

 

Of these, 682,226 units were sold domestically and 301,490 units were sold overseas.

 

Genesis sells an average of around 20,000 units per month.

 

It is expected to exceed the remaining 16,284 units needed to reach the 1 million mark within this month.

 

Led by the midsize sedan G80, which sold over 380,000 units cumulatively this year, other models like the GV80 and GV70 SUVs have followed suit.

 

In November 2015, Hyundai launched the G90, marking its first step into the luxury car market dominated by German brands like BMW and Mercedes-Benz, as well as Japan's Lexus.

 

The then Vice Chairman, Chung Eui-sun, led the entire process and was hailed for his determination.
