40,000 members of Jamboree sing along in unison to the elite K-Pop corps' performance
As the intro of the hit song "Hype Boy" by the girl group NewJeans, which had stormed the Billboard charts, began to play, the Seoul World Cup Stadium resounded with fervent cheers.
The stadium was packed with over 40,000 teenagers from 143 countries, who united as one with the enthusiasm of K-Pop, singing along to "Hype Boy" in unison.
On the 11th, at Seoul's Mapo District, the Seoul World Cup Stadium, the "K-Pop Super Live" concert, which marked the grand finale of the 2023 Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree, proved the prominent status of K-Pop as a 'mainstream' trend among youth worldwide.
With performances by dazzling K-Pop stars like New Jeans, NCT Dream, IVE, Mamamoo, and ITZY, the Jamboree scouts not only participated in enthusiastic sing-alongs but also sent out passionate cheers, followed the dance moves, and wholeheartedly enjoyed the last official event in Korea.
On this day at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, the faces of the gathered scout members were filled with anticipation, more for the excitement of meeting K-Pop stars in person than the regrets of past tournament misfortunes.
Before the event began, the sound of New Jeans's "Hype Boy" reverberated through the stadium, triggering bursts of cheers and group singing among the entering members.
Even though raindrops fell on the stadium just before the performance started, the fervor of the audience not only remained but intensified.
The 40,000 members filling the seats kept the festive spirit alive by engaging in spontaneous waves of enthusiastic cheers.
From the rookie group Zero Base One that had just debuted to the veteran Mamamoo who came together as a complete unit after a long time, the crowd sent out spirited cheers to every stage, proving their intense interest in K-Pop.
As the popular group New Jeans, which recently topped the Billboard main album chart, took the stage, the excitement in the audience reached its peak.
As the performances continued with IVE and ITZY, both of whom enjoy great popularity across Asia, the members enthusiastically waved their lightsticks regardless of gender and enjoyed the show.
Despite initial uncertainties caused by changes in the performance schedule and venue, IVE, who adjusted their schedule to participate, fulfilled their promise with the Jamboree members through their performances of hit songs like 'I AM' and 'LOVE DIVE.'
In return, the members responded with spirited sing-alongs and cheers.
Immersed in the festive atmosphere, the members took out their mobile phones during breaks between performances, capturing the moments on stage and eagerly sharing them on social media without any hesitation.
As the performance progressed, the raindrops grew heavier, but both the Jamboree members and the artists remained undeterred.
Taking the stage as the final performers, the group NCT Dream mentioned the connection they had forged four years ago when they performed a congratulatory stage at the World Scout Jamboree held in the United States, adding to the warmth of the moment.
Undaunted by the rain, they showcased their worldwide popularity with energetic performances of 'Yogurt Shake' and 'ISTJ,' proving the reasons behind their global acclaim.
As all the performers took the stage to sing TVXQ's song 'Balloons' for the finale, the audience illuminated the night of the K-Pop festival by turning on their mobile phone flashlights and waving them throughout the venue.
As colorful balloons floated above the audience and vibrant fireworks lit up the sky, the scout members stood up from their seats, wearing joyful expressions, and celebrated the festival by dancing around.
The host of the day, Hyein from New Jeans, who was the MC, explained the fervor of the audience by saying, "Dreaming and making those dreams come true seem to be a common denominator between the scout members gathered here and K-Pop."
The 2023 Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree concluded all official events with the K-Pop concert on this day.
Scout members from different countries will now move to their accommodations according to their respective national schedules, allowing them personal time for packing and preparations.
Some countries will extend their stay in Korea to continue with additional activities, such as experiencing local culture and events.
