Korean Folk Village : In to the life of the common people of Joseon
Many Korean dramas tell stories from the Joseon Dynasty.
The scenery seen on the screen shows the scenery, streets, and buildings of the Joseon Dynasty, which are different from now, but in harmony with nature.
Now we can just see fancy Hanok village where rich people used to live, but what about the common citizen like me?
So today I would like to introduce Korean Folk Village located in Yong-in, which is not that far from Seoul. It's like I'm living in the past in a drama.

Korean Folk Village introduces traditional culture from the late Joseon period to both local and international visitors through cultural classes experience, seasonal customs and others. It is a recreated village where we can feel the age of Joseon dynasty.
Performances including nongak (farmer’s music), martial arts on horseback, traditional wedding ceremony, and other special events are available by season.
In particular, "Welcome to Joseon," an event held every May, takes visitors back to the past.
In addition, a family-friendly theme park equipped with 15 exciting attractions is also available.
Visitors can also try various Korean foods at the market street.
Traditional Performance
Do you know Korean street plays are really interesting?
Farmers and workers used to forget the labor pains with songs, dances, and plays.
Because of that, traditional Korean plays and performances are fun and humorous.
Korean performances have no separate stage and audience seats.
Let's all participate in the stage, laugh together, and shake off all your worries and sorrows here!
A folk parade with traditional dances and comic plays. During this unique parade performance, guests can enjoy the beautiful traditional dance procession, as well as humorous performance of the story Tale of Chunhyang.
Craft workshops
From the old years and till now Korean traditional craftworks had been approved throughout years, representing the spirit of an artisan.
Here you can also present your artistic spirit by joining the workshops.
Traditional dyeing experience
A participant uses such natural materials as gardenia seeds and sappan wood to put subtle color on a handkerchief.
The natural color of self designed product would be a nice object to bring you back home.
Pottery Workshop
It is a chance to learn witness and experience by making of pottery, a living proof of ancestors’ wisdom. Feel the warmth and softness of earth, put your name on it, now you are a master.
Straw shoes Workshop
You can learn how to make straw shoes here, which the citizen used to wear.
They show the process of making straw shoes by plaiting straws skillfully.
Visitors can meet here an artisan who twists straws in the traditional method to make straw shoes.

If you're hungry, stop by the Joseon marketplace.
Use old Korean money to buy food.
The atmosphere of the market full of laughter may make the food taste better!
At the market, you can taste about 20 local foods and seasonal foods that stimulate your appetite, such as cold noodles, muk, bibimbap, and handmade dumpling soup.
All foods ladle traditional flavors in an old, nature-friendly way, using only artificial and natural flavors from processed foods.
Korean Folk Village Sledding Hills
The Korean Folk Village Sledding Hills has two slopes, one for adults and another for children. Visitors to the Korean Folk Village can enjoy various cultural events as well as sledding in winer.
