In the bustling area near Yeongdeungpo Station, which is known for severe traffic congestion, the presence of large shopping centers around Yeongdeungpo Rotary, along with the continuous flow of commuters, dating couples, and individuals from outlying areas looking to catch buses, creates a constant hustle and bustle.
Right in front of the always-busy station Yeongdeungpo, there is Times Square, where people are everywhere no matter the season.
Especially on weekends, the cafes in and around Times Square are super packed with folks.
Today, we will be spill the secret places, which are peaceful oasis as a place to relax.
1. Sky Park
Head up the escalator from the central hall of Times Square to the 5th floor.
Once you're here, look for the left revolving door which leads to the outside through GATE 18.
If you follow this path, you'll reach Times Square's Sky Park.
As you reach the Sky Park, you'll find a spot where you can see the panoramic view of the Yeongdeungpo area all at once.
It's a great garden for taking a leisurely stroll.
Walking along the path, you'll notice flowering trees around, and you can even take a walk through circular sculptures, providing a brief moment of rest in the midst of the city.
2. Maybell Bakery
Exiting through GATE 8 on the first floor, you'll come across an old building.
This building, not to be merely passed by, holds a unique significance.
It's been transformed into a cafe that sells coffee and pastries.
The building carries a hidden meaning to the extent that it's even designated as a cultural heritage.
In 1936, during the Japanese colonial period, this place was used as an administrative building for the Gyeongseong Textile Factory.
3. Café in MUJI
Did you know that there's a cafe inside MUJI?
It's called Muji Cafe, and it's not as crowded as other cafes since you can't see it from outside.
Only those in the know tend to come here since it's not bustling with people like other cafes.
Originally, this establishment was planned as a cafe-style restaurant that also sold lunchboxes.
However, they initially opened as a cafe that serves beverages only, after downsizing the concept.
I recommend paying a visit to this quiet cafe inside Times Square, as it's one of the rare peaceful spots in here.
Next time you're around Times Square in Yeongdeungpo, make sure to look for these calm and peaceful places.
It's like a hidden treasure that gives you a nice break from the busy city vibe right nearby.
