Director Oh Seung-wook makes a powerful return to the big screen with Revolver, a gripping tale of vengeance that promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

After a nine-year hiatus since his critically acclaimed The Shameless (2015), which was featured in the "Un Certain Regard" section at the 68th Cannes Film Festival, Oh Seung-wook delivers a narrative packed with intrigue, betrayal, and a relentless pursuit of justice.

The story centers around Ha Soo-young, played by the talented Jeon Do-yeon, a police officer whose life spirals into chaos when her name surfaces in a high-profile drug case.

As she prepares to move into a new apartment, her world is turned upside down by the revelation from her superior and lover, Im Seok-yong (Lee Jung-jae), that she has been implicated in a crime involving Andy (Ji Chang-wook), the brother of Grace (Jeon Hye-jin), the influential CEO of the investment firm Eastern Promises.

Faced with an impossible choice, Soo-young is offered a hefty sum of 700 million won to take the fall for the crime.

Two years later, after serving her sentence, Soo-young is released from prison only to find that everything she was promised has vanished—Im Seok-yong is dead, the money is gone, and her dream apartment now belongs to someone else.

Determined to reclaim what is rightfully hers, she partners with a nightclub madam, Jung Yoon-sun (Lim Ji-yeon), and embarks on a quest for justice.

Armed with a revolver gifted to her by her former superior Min Ki-hyun (Jung Jae-young), Soo-young begins to track down everyone involved in the conspiracy that ruined her life.

As she confronts each individual—Andy, Yoon-sun, President Jo (Jung Man-sik), Detective Shin Dong-ho (Kim Jun-han), the head of Eastern Promises (Kim Jong-soo), and Grace—their hidden motives are revealed one by one, shedding light on the complex web of deceit that led to her downfall.

Revolver takes inspiration from Bruce Lee's classic Game of Death (1978), where the protagonist ascends a five-story tower, battling martial arts masters at each level to uncover the truth behind a criminal conspiracy.

Similarly, Ha Soo-young’s journey is marked by intense confrontations with those who wronged her, each encounter bringing her closer to the ultimate truth and her final goal.

The title Revolver is symbolic, representing how Soo-young metaphorically loads each adversary into the chamber of her revolver as she methodically advances toward her revenge.

Oh Seung-wook's Revolver is not just a story of revenge; it is a meticulously crafted narrative that explores the depths of human resilience, the complexities of trust, and the lengths one will go to reclaim what has been unjustly taken.

With a stellar cast and a director known for his ability to weave suspenseful and emotionally charged stories, Revolver is set to be one of the year's most compelling films.
