Department stores and shopping malls are attracting customers during the rainy season by promoting "indoor vacations."

 

Although the vacation season typically represents a low season due to many travelers, they have successfully drawn in customers by marketing the rainy season as a special opportunity.

 

 

 

Hyundai Department Store announced on the 8th that from June 28th to July 7th, 100,000 people visited the "Sun of Positano" event at The Hyundai Seoul in Yeouido, Seoul.

 

The event, held in the 3,300 (about 1,000 pyeong) "Sounds Forest" within the store, was designed to resemble Positano, a world-renowned resort town in southern Italy.

 

The space was adorned with dozens of lemon trees, a local specialty, and lined with Italian-style shops.

A representative from Hyundai Department Store stated, "The event space sees an average of 10,000 visitors per day, which is three times the usual number," adding, "Sales from the shops installed at the event space were 70% higher than during last year's Christmas market event."

 

The event space features local Italian products for sale, such as the wine brand 'Puglia Pop' and balsamic vinegar brand 'Acetaia del Cristo.'

 

 

 

This event will run until the 17th at The Hyundai Seoul. Starting from the 19th, it will be held sequentially at stores nationwide, including the Trade Center branch in Gangnam, Seoul, and the Pangyo branch in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.

 

Hyundai Department Store plans to hold themed events featuring famous overseas resort destinations annually in the future.

The company plans to continue its annual operation of signature themed events featuring representative overseas resort destinations each summer.

 

A Hyundai Department Store spokesperson expressed expectations that the current theme event, allowing urban vacation experiences indoors, will garner even greater interest during the rainy season.

 

They stated, "We anticipate a higher response given the alignment with the monsoon season," and emphasized ongoing strategies to expand spaces where diverse experiences beyond healing and leisure can be found within retail settings.
