For instance, "TOM SAWYER" will now be recorded as "SAWYER TOM."

If a foreign name has already been recorded in immigration-related documents such as a foreign registration card or a domestic residence report card, that name will be used.

 

In cases where no such document exists, the name will be taken from the machine-readable zone of the individual's passport, ensuring consistency with international standards.

 

Korean names for foreigners will also follow a standardized format.

 

Similar to the Roman letter format, Korean names will be written in the 'Surname-Given Name' order.

 

However, unlike the Roman letter format, the surname and given name will be written together without a space.

 

For example, the name "SAWYER TOM" will be written as "소여톰" in Korean.

 

If a foreigner's Korean name has already been recorded in public documents, such as a family register, that name will be used.

 

If no such name exists, the foreigner's name will be transliterated into Korean based on the pronunciation in the region where the name is used, adhering to the rules of foreign language transcription.
