The long-awaited Red Plum Blossom of the 19th parish of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, Jirisan Daehwa Umsa, has finally begun to burst into bloom.

As a result, the Red Plum Blossom Photography Contest is also expected to carry out its schedule without a hitch as originally announced if there is no abnormal climate.

 

On the 7th, Jirisan Daehwa Umsa said, "The red plum blossoms burst into bloom for the first time on the 7th.

"If the current temperature conditions are maintained, it will begin blooming in earnest this weekend (Saturday, March 11), and we expect 60-70% by the weekend of March 18 and 10,000 will be between March 20 and 26," he said.

 

 

 

 

The Red Plum Blossom Photo Contest can be uploaded on the website of Hwaeomsa(화엄사) for 16 days from March 11 (Sat) to March 26 (Sun).

In particular, 100 participants who upload photos of red plum blossoms on a first-come, first-served basis will be presented with two gift certificates from Genesis BBQ.

 

At the opening ceremony of the Red Plum Blossom (Saturday, March 18th at 13:30, in front of Gakhwangjeon(각황전)), a "small concert dedicated to Red Plum Blossom" (music director: Kim Joo-yeon, performer: second month, Odanhae) will be prepared to thank the Red Plum Blossom and give the participants a melody that matches.

The Red Plum Blossom of Hwaeomsa Temple is located 450m above sea level, and blooming begins late due to the daily temperature range and wind humidity of Jirisan Mountain.

In 2022, the temperature suddenly dropped during the flowering period, delaying full bloom.
