In a major move to streamline urban mobility, South Korea’s leading mobility platform SOCAR has announced a partnership with the Seoul Metropolitan Government to integrate the city’s public bike-sharing service, Ttareungi(따릉이), directly into the SOCAR app.
This integration allows users in Seoul to conveniently access both the city-operated Ttareungi bikes and SOCAR’s own electric bike service, Elecle, through a single unified platform.
As of this launch, SOCAR users can now locate and rent more than 45,000 Ttareungi bikes and over 50,000 Elecle electric bikes across the country—all from within the SOCAR app.
With a combined fleet of over 95,000 bicycles, this collaboration makes SOCAR the largest bike-sharing platform in South Korea by fleet size.
This unified access means users can choose between traditional pedal-powered bicycles and electric bikes based on their personal preferences, travel distance, or terrain, all while enjoying a seamless and intuitive user experience.
To mark the launch of this integrated service, SOCAR is rolling out attractive promotional offers that will last until the end of May.
New users who purchase a Ttareungi pass via the SOCAR app for the first time will receive a discount of up to 50%.
This offer is valid for 30-day, 60-day, and 180-day Ttareungi passes, making it a cost-effective opportunity for both daily commuters and casual riders to explore the service.
In addition, every time a user rides a Ttareungi bike through the SOCAR app, they will receive a 50% discount on their next Elecle ride.
This discount applies to both the unlocking fee and the per-minute usage rate, with no limit on how many times the benefit can be redeemed—encouraging users to mix and match between the two services for a more flexible commuting experience.
Using the newly integrated service is straightforward.
Users simply need to download or update the SOCAR app and log in.
Existing Ttareungi users can link their existing Ttareungi ID within the app, while new users can register for a Ttareungi membership directly through SOCAR before linking their account.
Once connected, users can navigate to the “Bike” tab on the app’s main screen.
From there, they’ll see a map displaying available Ttareungi and Elecle bikes nearby, represented with easy-to-identify icons.
Riders can then choose their preferred service and begin their journey with just a few taps.
SOCAR’s integration of Seoul’s public bike system reflects the company’s broader vision of creating a more connected and user-friendly mobility ecosystem.
By eliminating the need to switch between multiple apps and accounts, the company aims to make sustainable transportation options more accessible and convenient.
This partnership with the Seoul Metropolitan Government is also aligned with the city’s goals to reduce carbon emissions, alleviate traffic congestion, and encourage eco-friendly transportation alternatives.
Whether commuting to work, running errands, or enjoying a leisurely ride along the Han River, users now have greater flexibility and freedom to choose the transportation option that best fits their lifestyle.
As more cities look to improve their public transportation networks, SOCAR’s latest move could serve as a model for public-private collaboration in smart mobility services.
For now, Seoul residents and visitors alike can look forward to an easier, more enjoyable way to get around the city—just in time for the spring cycling season.
