Protein foods, which were previously perceived as tough and tasteless, are enhancing their taste and quality, increasing consumer satisfaction.

With the rise of the so-called 'Muscle Tech' trend (muscle + tech), more people are seeking protein-rich foods, prompting food companies to actively develop them.

While beverages and bars used to dominate the protein food market in the past, recently, there's been diversification into bread, snacks, and more.

According to the food industry on the 5th, Tous Les Jours introduced 'High Protein Bakery' for the first time.

They focused not only on protein content but also on delivering a nutty flavor and moist, soft texture.

They enhanced the taste by adding high-protein nuts such as brown rice, walnuts, almonds, and pumpkin seeds.

Each main product of protein bakery contains over 11g of protein per 100g.

Protein bread is said to be one of the product categories that underwent the most trial and error during development.

As protein content increases, the texture tends to become tough.

However, consumers prefer moist bread, so considerable effort was made to bridge that gap.

Protein-added potato chips and ice cream have also emerged.

Lotte Well-Being Foods' protein-specialized brand 'EZ Protein' introduced 'High Protein Potato Chips' and 'High Protein Ice Cream.'

The potato chips are baked in the oven to remove excess oil, providing 12g of protein per bag (50g), equivalent to 2 eggs.

They offer two flavors, salted bread and spicy cheese, to be enjoyed like regular potato chips.

The bar-shaped high-protein ice cream contains 6g of protein per 99kcal.

Maeil Bio, a fermented milk specialist brand of Maeil Dairy, unveiled 'Maeil Bio Protein Yogurt,' which is low-fat and fortified with protein.

They reduced the calories to 90kcal per 260ml bottle and added 2.3g of protein per serving.

It's a product designed for those who spend long periods sitting and have limited physical activity, aiming to provide an easy way to consume protein.

In response to the protein trend, Lotte Chilsung Beverage recently launched 'Oatmond Protein,' a plant-based protein drink.

They entered the market seeing potential in protein drinks.

It comes in two flavors, original and chocolate, offering 10g of 100% plant-based protein.

They reduced sugar and added probiotics, vitamins, and minerals to ensure sufficient nutritional intake.

A food industry official said, "Interest in weight management tends to rise from spring before the summer season.

Food companies are releasing protein products one after another to meet this demand," adding, "The technology for making protein products is rapidly advancing, so saying 'protein products taste bad' is now a thing of the past.
