How to Use Korean Residential Appliances

 

 

If you are living in Korea, you might experience find an air conditional in your apartment but have no clue how to use the remote control.

All the buttons are in Korea, and the function and settings may be confusing.

Here, Stay14 taken a few different home appliances tips to help you out.

 

 

 


 

 

 

 

1. Air Conditional Remote Control

 

 

 

 

These are translation for some basic functions.

You may change these mode with the Mode Change Button.

 

•    냉방 - Cooling / normal A.C.

•    제습 - Dehumidifying

•    송풍 / 환기 - Fan / vent

•    자동 - Automatic

 

You may change air strength with 바람세기 button.

 

•    터보 - Turbo

•    강 - High

•    중 - Medium

•    약 - Low

 

 

 

 

2. Boiler Controller

 

 

 

 

This is a controller for the floor heating and hot water for showering.

Many foreigners are confused with the hot water button.

Basically, pressing 온수전용 will allow you to adjust water temperature with the bar.

 

Going Out Mode, or Leave Mode, should be set when you are outside.

It is strongly recommended to keep your boiler on because it consumes the gas when the temperature is raised rapidly.

In order to avoid hiked gas price, use 외출 mode!

 

 

 

 

3. Laundry

 

 

 

 

 

Just like other laundry machines, if you press the start button, it will automatically be set on Standard Wash.

Be careful when you are using Detergent and Softener.

Detergent is 세제 and Softener is 섬유유연제.

 

 

 

4. Gas Stove/ Gas Valve

 

 

 

 

Make sure the gas supply is turned on.

If you're not sure how to do this, check the valve near the gas line or consult the user manual.

 

Turn On: To turn on the gas supply, turn the valve handle parallel to the gas line.

You should hear a hissing sound as the gas flows into the valve.

Turn Off: To turn off the gas supply to the valve, turn the valve handle perpendicular to the gas line.

The hissing sound of the gas flow should stop.

 

 

 

 

 

Most gas stoves have a built-in ignition system that you can activate by turning the handle or dial to the "ignite" position.

You can adjust the heat level with these handles.

To increase or decrease the heat, turn the knob or dial to the left or right.

 

 

 

 

 

5. WIFI Router

 

 

 

 

 

Please check the internet box or the Wi-Fi router in your room for the Wi-Fi ID and password.

You can use either ID to connect, and the password can be found below.

 

 

 

 

 

6. Microwave

 

 

 

 

Using a microwave oven is relatively easy.

When the timer is set, it starts working right away.

As long as the power is properly adjusted, it will work appropriately.

 

 

 

 

7. DoorLock  

 

 

 

 

 

 

In Korea, it is common for people to use door locks that require a passcode or other form of authentication instead of traditional keys.

Instead of carrying around a physical key, users can simply enter a code or use additional features, such as fingerprint scanning, remote control, or automatic locking to unlock the door.
