An artistic collaboration bringing Korea’s serene forests to the heart of Manhattan
On May 9 (local time), Korean luxury auto brand Genesis unveiled an immersive exhibition titled The Forest Within at its flagship cultural space, Genesis House, located in the heart of Manhattan, New York City.
The exhibition was created in collaboration with world-renowned Hollywood actress and wellness entrepreneur Gwyneth Paltrow, marking a unique blend of Korean natural aesthetics and contemporary wellness philosophy.
Drawing inspiration from the tranquil beauty of Korean forests—particularly the mountainous landscape of Sobaeksan—the exhibition invites visitors to embark on a multisensory journey that evokes the harmony, symbolism, and emotional depth found in Korea’s natural heritage.
Genesis announced the opening of the exhibition on May 11, highlighting its intent to introduce Korean culture to the global stage in a fresh and compelling way.
A Cultural Immersion Experience
The Forest Within is hosted in the "Cellar Stage," the underground exhibition space at Genesis House.
This venue, opened in 2021, has become a hub for cultural expression and creative innovation.
The exhibition was carefully curated to allow guests to walk through an artistic representation of a Korean forest, guided by a soothing narration from Paltrow herself.
The immersive journey includes symbolic elements such as tigers—considered guardians in Korean folklore—as well as rocks, trees, and flowers, each representing different facets of Korea's deep connection with nature.
Designed to engage all the senses, the exhibit features visual projections, ambient soundscapes, natural scents, and tactile textures that bring the Korean landscape to life in the middle of New York City.
An Artistic and Sensory Collaboration
The experience was brought to life with the help of world-renowned floral artist Jeff Leatham.
Known for his bold, modern interpretations of natural beauty, Leatham incorporated peonies—Gwyneth Paltrow’s favorite flower—into the exhibit, offering a contemporary reinterpretation of traditional Korean floral aesthetics.
The result is a dreamlike space that merges traditional Korean motifs with modern design, creating a tranquil retreat that invites introspection, mindfulness, and emotional resonance—core tenets shared by both Genesis and Paltrow’s wellness brand, Goop.
Founded in 2008 by Paltrow, Goop is a lifestyle brand that champions wellness through clean beauty, dietary supplements, and functional foods. The collaboration with Genesis reflects a mutual commitment to authenticity, balance, and holistic well-being.
A Taste of Korea
To further deepen the cultural experience, Genesis House’s restaurant offers a specially crafted menu inspired by Korean ingredients and themes from the exhibition.
Visitors can enjoy unique dishes such as mugwort dumplings wrapped in tiger-patterned skins and wellness cocktails made with traditional herbal ingredients like ginseng and bellflower root (doraji).
These offerings complement the exhibit's theme and enhance the overall sense of immersion.
Continuing a Tradition of Cultural Exchange
The Forest Within will be open to the public until June 29 (local time), continuing Genesis’s commitment to promoting Korean culture through innovative exhibitions and events.
Since the opening of Genesis House in 2021, the brand has actively sought to bridge cultures and share Korea’s rich heritage with a global audience.
Previous exhibitions include Bloomtanica in May 2023, a floral showcase inspired by Korean gardens and nature, which attracted more than 60,000 visitors in just one month.
In November of the same year, Genesis hosted Starscape, a light installation exhibition inspired by Korea’s winter solstice and New York’s long nights, evoking the mystery and beauty of the night sky.

A Genesis representative noted, “This exhibition is an extension of our brand philosophy to convey the Korean perspective on nature and beauty to a global audience. Through our collaboration with Gwyneth Paltrow, we’ve created a space where people can feel the essence of Korea even in the middle of a bustling city.”
The Forest Within stands as a testament to Genesis’s continued exploration of cultural storytelling.
