From the 30th, the obligation to wear a mask indoors will be lifted.
Prime Minister Han Deok-soo held a meeting of the COVID-19 Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters at the Seoul Government Complex this morning and said,
"The number of confirmed cases has been decreasing for three consecutive weeks, and three out of four indoor mask adjustment indicators have been met.”
However, Prime Minister Han said, "In order to protect the vulnerable class, we will maintain the obligation to wear it in medical institutions, pharmacies, infectious facilities, and public transportation for the time being."
He said, "We recommend that those who are in high-risk groups, such as the elderly, wear a mask at any time in places that are considered dangerous."
In particular, he stressed, "The importance of vaccination has increased due to the easing of the obligation to wear a mask," and "We strongly recommend that high-risk groups who have not yet been vaccinated get vaccinated as soon as possible."
Prime Minister Han said, "The Lunar New Year holiday without distancing will begin tomorrow," adding, "We will prepare and respond to ensure stable COVID-19 diagnosis and treatment during the holiday period."
