Apple Pay has been confirmed to land in Korea

 

Hyundai Card has signed an exclusive contract with Apple

Apple's global payment service Apple Pay is expected to be introduced in Korea in early 2023.

 

According to the industries, Hyundai Card is discussing the development of a payment network with domestic VAN companies after negotiating with Apple Pay to provide exclusive service to Korea.

It is estimated that only Hyundai Card can be used for domestic Apple Pay, considering that other companies' cards except Hyundai Card will be deleted later even if they are registered. Apple and Hyundai Card have yet to answer this question.

 

Hyundai Card is conducting technical consultations with three major domestic VAN companies, Nice Information and Communication, Korea Information and Communication (KICC), and KIS Information and Communication, following the sole payment of Hyundai Card and Apple Pay.

 

In addition, Hyundai Card will hold detailed consultations with large merchants on Apple Pay payments.

 

Apple is applying NFC to Apple Pay. Currently, there are about 60,000 to 70,000 franchises in Korea that can be paid through NFC terminals.
