GS25’s New Self-Serve Fruit Smoothie is Here!
If you’ve ever wished you could grab a fresh smoothie as quickly as you grab a coffee, GS25 has some exciting news for you.
Starting this summer, the popular Korean convenience store chain is rolling out a new self-serve fresh fruit smoothie machine — and it’s already turning heads!
A Game-Changer for Convenience Store Drinks
GS25 first tested this concept at a few of their company-run stores late last year.
After showcasing it at a major product fair in March, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive — both from store owners and customers.
In test locations this spring, smoothies were selling like crazy — over 20 cups per store per day, and even more in busy areas like subway stations and office districts.
Unsurprisingly, the 20s and 30s crowd made up over 60% of the customers, but people in their 40s and up were also jumping on the smoothie train.
So, How Does It Work?
It’s actually super simple — and fun!
- Grab a cup of frozen fruit from the freezer (there are a few flavors to choose from).
- Scan the QR code on the cup.
- Pop the cup into the smoothie machine.
- Watch it blend your drink right there — it takes about a minute!
No fuss, no waiting in line, and no barista required.
And don’t worry — the machine is equipped with an automatic cleaning system, so hygiene is fully covered.
What Flavors Can You Try?
GS25 is kicking things off with four delicious options:
- Mango Banana
- Strawberry Banana
- Strawberry Blueberry Mango
- Green Smoothie
Each one costs just 3,000 KRW (about $2.20).
Not bad for a refreshing treat, right? And they’re already working on expanding the menu to include frappés, shakes, and other trendy blends.
What’s Next?
Right now, GS25 is introducing the smoothie machine to around 100 stores across Korea.
But that’s just the beginning. After testing and feedback, the plan is to expand it even more in the near future.
It’s part of GS25’s ongoing mission to shake up the convenience store food scene.
They’ve already made waves with Café25 (fresh coffee), Chicken25 (hot snacks), seasonal hits like fish-shaped buns and roasted sweet potatoes, and even launched their own version of pizza.
Now, smoothies are the next big thing.
“We wanted to give our customers a fun and healthy experience that fits into their busy lives,” said In-gyu Lee, a GS25 team manager. “Our goal is to make smoothies a year-round favorite in our stores.”
