Even calling the 4th installment (directed by Heo Myeong-hang) of the 'The Roundup' series the highest-grossing series in the history of Korean cinema would not be an exaggeration.

This time, there was noticeable progress in storytelling, flow, and character development.

Of course, the 4th installment still follows Detective Ma Seok-do (played by Ma Dong-seok) and his team as they tackle major criminal cases.

The film begins with a case where a young Korean man is murdered in Manila, Philippines.

While investigating a drug trafficking case using a delivery app, Ma Seok-do learns about the death in the Philippines.

There are two villains : Baek Chang-gi (played by Kim Moo-yeol), a former special forces mercenary who controls the Korean illegal online gambling market, and Jang Dong-cheol (played by Lee Dong-hwi), a young IT industry genius and CEO.

To dismantle the drug organization, Ma Seok-do proposes cooperation to Jang Yi-soo (played by Park Ji-hwan).

In conclusion, 'The Roundup 4' resembles the first installment.

First, let's talk about Baek Chang-gi.

One of the factors contributing to the popularity of 'The Roundup' series is the introduction of new and interesting villains.

The process of these villains being tracked down and eliminated according to Ma Seok-do's formula is a selling point of the film.

While the movie knows that villains will be defeated by the hero, it must still set up antagonists who maintain tension and anticipation.

Jang Cheon (played by Yoon Kye-sang) in 'The Roundup 1' contributed the most to the success of 'The Roundup' series in this regard.

The charisma of Son Seok-gu was also appealing.

In contrast, Joo Seong-chul (played by Lee Joon-hyuk) in 'The Roundup 3' left much to be desired with the cliché setting of evil within the police and the performance of the actor.

Baek Chang-gi in 'The Roundup 4' is intense and thrilling.

He exhibits the same level of maliciousness and power as Jang Cheon while retaining the character's mystery and charm.

Kim Moo-yeol's action and acting dedicated to the villain can be considered a 'tribute,' faithful enough to be called so.

With Kim Moo-yeol and Ma Dong-seok, this remarkable duo accomplishes the premise of the series.

The showdown between the protagonists takes place at the airport, just like in the first installment.

With quite satisfying action and witty dialogues, it recalls the 'restroom sequence' from the first movie.

Nevertheless, I dare say that 'The Roundup 4,' will become the biggest box office hit before the summer blockbuster season.
