On the departure day of Everland's giant panda 'Pu Bao'after 1354 days in Korea, fans bid farewell to Pooh Bear with cheers and tears.

A farewell event for Pooh Bear was held at the Rose Garden Fountain Square in Everland, Yongin City, on the morning of the 3rd as he returned to China.

 

Despite the rainy weather, more than 6,000 panda fans gathered here to bid their last farewell to Pooh Bear.

 

Fans began to gather in front of Everland from 4:30 in the morning, and by before the park's opening at 10 a.m., their numbers swelled to over 1,000.

On this day, Everland announced that baby panda Pooh Bear departed for the Wolong Panda Center in Sichuan Province, China, to begin his new life.

 

Pooh Bear completed quarantine procedures under the regulations and conditions of both China and Korea, conducted by officials from the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency for a month starting from the 4th of last month.

 

 

 

Everland added, "Born between his mother, 'Aibao', and father, 'Lebao', in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic on July 20, 2020, Pooh Bear, whose name means 'a treasure that brings happiness', brought happiness, joy, memories, and emotions to many people for 1354 days."

Pu Bao, affectionately known as 'Yongin Pu-ssi' or Pu Princess', received much love from citizens.

 

Especially, the bond between Pooh Bear and his caregivers Kang and Song, who had been taking care of him since he was young, became known through YouTube videos, leading to the emergence of a fandom and even separate broadcast programs.

 

When Pu Bao's departure date was decided, fans even posted farewell advertisements in the subway.

For these fans, Everland also held a free beverage event.

 

On the electronic display board, the message read,

 

"Pu Bao treats you. Aunt, Uncle, I'm leaving today. Even when I go to China, I'll be healthy and happy. Thank you so much for loving me."

 

 

 

Pu Bao is the first giant panda born through natural breeding in South Korea.
