Hyehwa-dong is located in the heart of Seoul in jongno-gu district.
It is a vibrant and culturally rich area known for its lively atmosphere, diverse entertainment options, and historical significance.
I been there 2 years ago for the first time, and I immediately fall in love with this lovely place.
I prefer to visit this place during the day time because there are lots of buildings that shows its charm during the day time.
Hyehwa-dong is adjacent to Naksan Park, a scenic public park that offers stunning views of Seoul's cityscape.
The park is popular among locals and visitors for its walking trails, historic fortress wall, and beautiful cherry blossom trees in spring.
It is also near with Ihwa Mural Village, where you can see the vibrant and colorful murals that have transformed the village into an open-air art gallery.
If you plan to visit Ihwa Mural Village, it's best to wear comfortable shoes as the village is situated on a hilly terrain.
The narrow streets and alleyways can get crowded, so it's recommended to visit during weekdays or early in the morning to avoid large crowds.
Remember to be respectful of the residents and their homes as you explore the village!!
As the sun sets, Marronnier Park, located outside exit 2 of Hyehwa Station in Hyehwa-dong, comes alive with a lively atmosphere and street performers showcasing their talents.
This small yet delightful square takes its name from the majestic marronnier at its center, which blooms with stunning red and white flowers in the spring.
Following recent renovations, the park offers a pleasant open space that frequently hosts free performances and concerts.
While weekdays offer a more tranquil ambiance, it remains a serene spot to unwind and rejuvenate after a day of exploration.
Not many of them speak English, so it is better to stop by the information center and check out the showtimes.
Remember, most of the performances are only in Korean, but a few theaters offer foreign language subtitles.
This historic palace, with its traditional Korean architecture and serene gardens, invites visitors on a journey through time.
This is also located in Hyehwa-dong.
Originally built in the 12th century, Changgyeonggung Palace has witnessed the ebb and flow of Korea's rich history.
